I'm running WinXP_Sp2 and have a tripple monitor setup using S3 Graphics
ProSavage DDR and a Radeon 9200. Two of the monitors are 15"at 1024x768, and
the third is a 21"running at 1280x1024. My problem is this:
I would like to display a different desktop image on each monitor. I know
this can be done because I have seen it, but have scoured the net to no
avail. There are practical reasons for this too - mainly, because I am
running two seperate resolutions, if I set the 21" (1280x1024) monitor as the
primary, then whatever it does to the wallpaper image is stretched or shrunk
for that resolution, and the other montiors don't really adapt. For example,
if I set a 1024x768 image as the wallpaper on the 1280x1024 and set it to
stretch, it stretches the image to 1280x1024 on the 1024x768 monitors,
chopping off the edges.
The other thing is getting my task bar to span across a couple of or all of
the the monitors. Again, this is something I have seen done in many places
but nobody seems to be able to explain how it is done.
I just don't see why it can't easily be done, and surely there is something
simple I am overlooking. If anyone can please provide some help, it would be
greatly appreciated. My technical abilities are above average, so don't be
concerned with scaring me. I am eager to have it work.
Happy as I am with the integrated multihead support within XP, I am looking
foward to advanced support in Longhorn; multihead setups are the future of
personal computing, with very nearly every graphic card being produced to
support at least two monitors, hopefully Microsoft will catch on to this.
Cheers!
