I am working on a '99 Hewlett-Packard 9680C. The machine
came with Windows 98 and a third party sound card.
Several years ago Windows 2000 was put on it. I've been
working here a short time and noticed that it dosen't
produce sound. I really need this thing to work, so I've
been trying to fix it. In the device manager there is an
exclamation point next to the multimedia audio controller
and it says that the drivers are not installed. I've
searched the net for the drivers and I've tried removing
the device, letting the computer re-find it and then
trying to reload the drivers by itself. Nothing has
worked. Does anyone have any suggestions. I've also
tried disabling on-board sound through the BIOS, that
didn't work either.
