multimedia audio controller

I'm having a problem finding a driver for a multimedia
audio controller in the device manager cannot get the
sound to work on the computer a friend gave me the
computer and dont' have a disc for the sound card. Also
under device manager sound, video and game controlersit
says legacy audio device and no question marks but the
sound will still not work. i hae compelety updated windows
drivers. can anyone help.

You will have to figure out what sound card you have and go to that
vendors web site and download a driver for Windows 2000. You may have to
open up the computer and look at it. It is also possible that the sound
card is built on the motherboard and you will be able to get driver from
the motherboard manafacturer.
