Hi there, Well the problem is, my Multimedia Audio Controller (MAC). Basically i have a rather new computer, it was working fine, then one day after downloading a whole bunch of songs i realised my audio wasnt working. I tryed all the troubleshooting options and found myself in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties, came to the realisation it was my MAC after clicking on properties and it displaying the message "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device.. Click reinstall device, which i have tryed, with various different drivers c.d's i have with the computer after it searches for a while it comes up with the message cannot install this hardware...The system cannot find the file specified..
If you could help this would be so much appreciated..

When updating or replacing drivers sometimes you have to point windows to
it. It won't load or find them automatically.
For instance if you wanted to update your Audio Codecs located in Device
Manager rt click and select Update driver.
Then choose Install from a list or specific location and then Choose
Browse. Go to your CD and actually click on the
proper driver folder.

I am having the exact same problem. Why does XP even do this? Sounds ridiculous as this is a pretty frequent problem.

For me, the audio codecs drivers (like all the other audio devices) work fine...and unfortunately the computer came pre-loaded so the drivers are unavailable to get off the CD.

Are there any other solutions????
