When I upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP,
my sound disappeared. My soundcard works fine and
my drivers for it should be up to date. But when I peruse
my system hardware, I saw that drivers for Multimedia
Audio controller were not installed. WTF? I mean under
Windows ME it worked fine, and now Windows XP doesn't
support the drivers for Multimedia Audio Controller?
Where can I get drivers for this to fix this problem?

Delete any sound drivers and then download and install *** XP specific ***
drivers from the soundcard manufacturer's website.

How sure are you it will work, and that this is in fact a sound
card problem? When I looked, my soundcard drivers are
fine, but I no longer have a volume control. I used to have
a master volume control that I could access from my toolbar
and it disappeared when XP was installed. So how is
reinstalling soundcard drivers going to fix that problem?
I mean, a soundcard driver is not the same thing as a
Multimedia Audio Controller driver, is it?

Help!
