I'm seeing alot of new server rackmount sata backplanes listed as
"multilane"...

I'm not familiar with this terminology.. is having a rackmount server
with removable SATAII HDs and this terminology better in any way than
those without?

Thanks

This just means that they can server more than one disk.
Marketink speak at its best...

So any backplane that is SATAII (and/or NCQ) is the same thing.. just
fancy wording ..

AFAIK that is the case. The only other "multilane" STA I know are
"multilane SATA cables", which are several separate SATA cables
somehow tied together for part of their length.
Thanks for the input.

No problem.
