Multiburst image files

I bought a new digital camera (Sony DSC41) that has multiburst mode. I
thought that would be great for taking action shots and then being able to
choose the one you like.

But now reading in the docs for camera, it states that the images cannot be
separated. What kind of hooey is that? Anyway, does anyone here know of a
work around or a utility that will separate the 16 images into 16 individual
files.

In theory you can. You can open the image in a photo editing software and
crop the area(s) (any one of the 16 pictures) of the image and save them as
a separate file. While this will work the quality of each saved area, when
resized so you can see it by itself as a single picture, will be very poor.
This mode is a "fun thing".
You would be better selecting the burst mode instead of multiburst. If the
camera is set for jpg fine, you get 4 separate pictures. If set for jpg
standard, you get 7 separate pictures.

Thanks for the tip. I guess I'll just use burst mode. Will I still have to
separate them the same way? or will they transfer as individual files?

They will transfer as individual files.

Thanks that helps a lot.
I still don't get why sony doesn't package the camera with software that
will extract the multiburst frames for individual use. Hmmmm.

Very simple. Packing 16 pictures into one image file would give a very poor
resolution when separating them.
