When you select data for a chart, Excel looks in the upper left of the data range.
If it's a blank cell, Excel knows that it should use the first row and first column
for series names and category values or labels. Suppose you want two rows at the top
for series names: put two blank cells, one at the start of each row:
AA BB
CC DD
a 1 7
b 2 6
c 3 5
d 4 4
e 5 3
The label for the first series will be 'AA CC' and for the second 'BB DD'.
It works the same for columns and the category labels (but it will convert any
numerical data into valueless labels).
