Can XP be set up so that a Japanese speaking user and an English-speaking
user can both use the same computer, especially send and receive e-mails in
their respective languages? Family lives in Japan and includes one Japanese
speaker/writer, one English speaker/writer, and two bi-lingual
speaker/writers.
We want all users to be able to send and receive e-mails in their own
language.
Is this possible?

Yes. XP can give you the option of entering or displaying text in a wide
selection of different languages.

1.) open "Regional and Language Options" in the Control Panel
2.) click on "Languages" tab
3.) check "Install files for East Asian languages"
4.) click "Apply" button
5.) reboot when prompted
6.) after reboot open "Regional and Language Option" again
7.) click on "Languages" tab
8.) click on the "Details" button - this will open "Text Services and Input
Languages" dialog
9.) click on the "Add" button
10.) select the language you would like to be able to enter in "Input
language:" combo box
11.) select keyboard type in the "Keyboard layout/IME:" combo box
12.) click "OK" button on "Text Services and Input Languages" dialog
13.) click "OK" button on "Regional and Language Options" dialog
14.) now you should have a language bar on your taskbar. The
language bar will allow you to set your input language.
