Multi-Homed Connectivity Issues

We're running a W2K server SP4 with a cable modem and 2
NIC's. The intranet works fine when the cable modem is
disconnected, all pc's communicate with each other.

When the intranet is disconnected and the server is using
the cable modem, it works fine.

The problem is when the cable modem AND the intranet are
both running, the W2K server hangs (with no errors in the
event log) and none of the systems can communicate at all.

We're using Internet Connection Sharing on the intranet
NIC. We have used this configuration for months, problem
just started.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

You shouldn't be using the ICS on the server.
Check the bindingorder of your nics in Network Connections, advanced,
advanced. The internal nic should be on top.
Internal nic should have a blanc gateway and DNS pointing to the server-IP.
External nic should only have TCP/IP bound, and DNS pointing to the
server-IP.
The ISP-DNS-numbers should be put in the forwarderstab of the DNS-server.
