can anyone tell me if I have a 98 operating system on a hard drive and I
install it as a slave, install another drive as a masterand install xp on it
on it for multibooting purposes will this affect the win 98 operating system
on the slave if i ever decide to use it again as a master or the only drive
in the computer to run 98 will it still be ok? does xp modify the other
operating systems on a multiboot sytem?
thanks

No, just the opposite. WinXP places the bootloader on the C: drive
which would be Win98. So, if you
removed the WinXP drive Win98 wouldnt miss it. But you cannot remove
the Win98 drive if you want
WinXP to boot up. If you want to swap files and have Win98 interact
with WinXP then you have to format
XP using Fat32. If you use NTFS for XP then XP will be able to see the
Win98 partition or drive but
98 will be locked out of XP.
