I have 2 HDD in my system. Drive 1 is XP Pro and Drive 2 is Vista. The only
way I was able to install vista was to unplug drive 1 from the motherboard
and setup 2 as the first drive. I would like to be able to multi-boot between
the two OS. How can I modify the Boot.ini to achieve this?

Vista does not use 'boot.ini'. It uses a new system called 'BCD' The
easisest way to edit this is with 'VistaBootPro' from
http://vistabootpro.org/index.php. You will need to install this on Vista.
You may have a problem though because both XP and Vista will think that they
are on the C drive and it may not be possible to do it.

The usual way to achieve dual-boot is to install Vista from within XP, using
a custom install to place Vista on the second drive D? Dual-boot setup
should then be automatic.

Hi John,
I have XP Pro sp2 on a 20 gig drive and Vista rc1 on a 40 gig drive and
dual boot them using OSL2000 bootloader and it works flawlessly.
At boot up you'll get a screen that gives you the choice of which drive and
which OS you want to use. The drive that the OS is on that you boot will
become your C: drive and the other drive will become D, E, F, etc...
Do a Google search for OSL2000 bootloader ( it's free).
If you need any more info (or help) just e-mail me at : (e-mail address removed)
Good Luck!
John
