I have just installed a second SCSI hard drive and loaded a second install
of XP Pro onto it. I achieved this by disconecting the primary drive.
I had hoped by going into >boot.ini< it would detect the second OS. It
doesn't :-((

I ran Partition Magics >Boot Magic< to find it won't install across seperate
drives. Or am I missing something.

Help please.

TIA.

Hi,

Boot the WinXP CD with all drives installed. Load the Recovery Console, from
the command prompt run "bootcfg /rebuild" and it should add the other
installation to the boot.ini file for you.

HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows XP [Q307654]
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307654

By the way, there was no need to disconnect the original drive when you did
this. You may need to run a repair install on the new installation for it to
be properly detected and loaded with the original drive in place.
