Mulitask with duo core or AMD X2

I am confused... currently I find my self doing more video editing of my
family concerts, games etc.. and using Windows XP AMD 3000+ is not doing the
trick.

Do I need to buy Windows XP 64-bit in order to take full advantage of my
eventuall move to either Duo Core or AMD X2???

Or should I use Windows XP 32-bit (which I already have) and buy video
editing software that take advantage of the two cores to do the heavy work
while I continue working on my other email, church projects, etc???

Or if I just transfer my current video editing program (Pinnacle Studio
Plus) and my WIndows XP 32-bit and I will see noticiable benefits of buying
a duo core or an AMD X2??

Thanks for any insight from those who already have taken the leap before me?

You dont need 64bit win
There are still a lack of drivers for 64bit
Not many apps are written to take advantage of 64bit, nor specifically dual
core (ie use both cores)

You source your software first, then find the hw it requires
