Is there {currently} such a thing as "MSXML 6 Service Pack 2" or has it been
discontinued [somehow/some-reason] (I can't seem to find it)?
I found...
Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML)...
and...
Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 Service Pack 1

Is XML even needed?

I restored a GHOST image of the C: drive.
There was an entry in the Add/Remove dialog box: MSXML 6 Service Pack 2
(KB954459)
I ran Windows Update and no critical updates appeared.
