LS,

I run Vista Professional on a Dell Dimension Desktop. Until yesterday my
outlook functioned just fine. After installing a add-in called Sperry Contact
Sort Order Add-In for Microsoft Outlook, my Outlook is corrupted and will not
start anymore, displaying only the message: “This application cannot be
started because MSVC80.dll cannot be found. Reinstalling this application
could solve this problem.â€
I have tried multiple suggested solutions including:

-Removing the add-in
-Continued with removing and reinstalling the whole Office suite
-Just removing and reinstalling the Outlook part of the suite through add
and remove on the installation disk
-Checking my register and removing the remaining key for the Sperry add-in
-Further I looked into the suggestions of finding and editing the
outlook.exe.manifest file or even removing it.

All of the above have not resulted in any thing. The message keeps on
appearing. Is there anyone with a proper solution except for reinstalling my
whole system?

Thanks in advance,
William

Neo, thanks for the suggestion, though it didn't solve much except for the
fact that the error message does not appear anymore, but outlook does not
start either. Vista displays "Microsoft Outlook does not function anymore....
searching for a solution" which it obviously does not find.

Any more ideas?

Does it start in safe mode?

How to:

Start > Run
Type: outlook.exe /safe
OK button

I'm affraid not. Do you recommend a reïnstall after the VC2005 runtime
installation?

Not yet, haven't ruled out if it is a machine or user profile issue. Have
you tried a new userid under vista to see if Outlook works?

The other wild though is, do you have Dell's Media Direct software installed
on your desktop?

New user profile did not sort any effect. Neither do I run the media direct
software. I appreciate your patience...

Any chance that Norton is installed ??
