Try turning off Content Advisor.

Depending on your OS you might also be able to do an IE Repair

Sorry. I didn't see your reply to PA Bear that you have Windows XP.

In that case you could try

regsvr32 msrating.dll

As this will modify the registry I think it would be best to do it while
iexplore.exe is not active. E.g. check Task Manager's Processes tab
Keystrokes: Ctrl-Shift-Esc,Ctrl-Tab,i,... (press i enough times to prove
iexplore.exe is not there)

In case you have a reproducible problem it might help if you could
post a link to a page which causes the crash.

Maureen,

Glad to see that you have found a workaround.

BTW it is Ok to change the Subject mid-thread but only if you reply
to thread. However, FYI for the convenience of others it is also best
if it is changed only by appending things (as you have done in this case).
Then they can reconstruct the entire discussion by a find on the original
Subject or by using Subject as a sort key. If instead you post a new
message but you use the identical Subject it may actually be grouped with
the rest of the discussion but probably not be shown properly threaded.
