I have been asked to allow a change to my registry for MSPCLOCK and also see
it showing up as a process in my start up section, but I use XP Pro and do
not see it in my system folder nor in my system 32 folder as an exe or a dll.

I wonder if this is a symptom of spyware or malware and if I can remove or
disable the registry entry for this line.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Michael

If you don't allow the registry change and the computer runs fine then it
could be spyware or such. Mspclock.sys can be a legitimate file. You can use
Autoruns or Process Explorer from SysInternals/Microsoft to see if a
publisher is associated with that process. If there is not then it probably
is spyware or malware. Having said that it is best to rely first on your
antivirus and spyware programs to try and detect and remove malicious
content being sure to use the latest definitions for whatever you scan with.
I find AdAware SE to be a pretty decent free for personal use spyware
program.
