Hello
Can anyone help with this problem
I have MSN messenger and Windows messenger installed on my computer. Every time I log on, I get a message saying, "You have signed in to Messenger on another computer. Click here to sign in again". At the same time, MSN stays dormant. When I click on the message, Messenger comes aliv, and I then get a message saying, "You have been signed out of .Net Messenger"
What is this?...some sort of power struggle between them both?....I prefer to use MSN Messenger, and I have tried disabling Windows messenger from starting, but it still insists it is the boss.....Is there anything i can do to prevent it from starting next to un-installing it?...I read somewhere in this forum that un-installing it might prevent some associated Windows programs from working ?
A reply by e-mail is OK.

Thanks

I am having having a similiar problem. It started several days ago. I had
been using Messenger 6.1. How can I tell the difference between MSN
Messenger and Net messenger?

One way is to remove net messenger and just use msn
messenger

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%
\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

copy and paste this into start>run

I was having the same problem, haven't had since removing
net messenger

Anonymous, does the removal of Net messenger affect the operation of any other microsoft or windows programs ??Noticed anything funny on your computer??

Freebie, the appearance differs between both, and Net messenger is called Windows Messenger. MSN Messenger is called MSN Messenger in the windows.
Seems like deleting Net Medssenger is the answer to this problem.....

Thanks!!
So I've been using MSN Messenger 6.1.0203. Is that ok to use with XP. Over
the past few days it wouldn't sign on and kept telling me that I was signed
on somewhere already. If I don't force MSN Messenger to load then 'Windows
Messenger 4.7.2009 seems signed on. I searched the knowledge base and
article KB330117 seems to suggest that Version 5 is the most recent for MSN
messenger for XP. It's confusing to me at this point. I feel like I have a
version of MSN messenger not meant for XP. Any idea what version of MSN
Messenger I should be using with XP? Why would I want MSN Messenger over
Windows Messenger? They seem pretty much alike to me.
Thanks,
Scott
