MSN Video streaming crashes IE 6.0, SP1

I am running an Intel motherboard (D815EEA) with a Pentium III, 930MHz and
512 MB RAM. I also have a PNY 6800GT video card with 256 MB RAM. The OS is
Win2K, SP4 with all current critical security updates and DirectX 9.0c. I
have recently installed Visual Studio 2005 to learn something about
programming in Windows. Anyway, IE is in URLMON.DLL when it crashes. It (the
..dll) tries to load a value from location 00000000, which causes an exception
and the application is terminated.

The question: Can anybody help with this problem?

Jon,
First, thanks for reply. I tried updating the Nvida drivers. That didn't
help (with the problem). I'm willing to reinstall Windows Media Player 9, but
I am curious. Is there a connection between the Windows Media Player and the
"MSN Video" player that runs in the Internet Explorer window? I'm talking
about video that plays in the brower when you click on a video link on an MSN
webpage. I am not having any problems playing video clips from other venues -
only MSN video clips on MSN web pages. If I do reinstall WMP 9, do need to
uninstall all the security updates first?
Thanks in advance,

Yes, IE uses WMP to play those videos. No, you do not need to uninstall the
updates first.
MSN video also uses Flash and/or Shockwave to display the videos, make sure
you have the latest here:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/

Pop-up blockers may interfer with playing videos on MSN. Add
http://video.msn.com/ to your blocker's "allowed" list or disable it.

Third-party add-ins may be causing a problem. In IE go to Tools...Internet
Options...Advanced tab, Browsing section, uncheck "Enable third-party
browser extentions", click Apply, click Okay. Reboot.

If still no joy, contact MSN Video support -
http://support.msn.com/eform.aspx?productKey=video&page=support_home_options_form_byemail&ct=eformts

Or also post this issue to the WMP newsgroup -

Hello Jon,
No joy! I've emailed MSN Video. I run out of things to try. If you have
anything else, I will be happy to try it.
Thanks,
