I am using Win XP SP2 w/ Outlook 2003 and MSN Outlook Connector w/ my MSN
Premium Account. I have the MSN account as my default in Outlook and am also
collecting mail for 3 other POP mail accounts. When I start Outlook it
automatically does a Send/Receive and often hangs for several minutes. During
this time, the Outlook icon in the system tray shows "Microsoft Outlook is
synchronizing folders" and the Send/Receive status goes to 97% or 98% but can
literally take 2-3 minutes or more to complete and get to 100%. Also, during
this time I cannot use Outlook and if I try to it often crashes. One time
when I re-started Outlook after one of these crashes, it said the the plug-in
msnconn32.dll did not function correctly the last time I ran Outlook and it
offered to disable it, but I did not.

If I just leave Outlook alone for several minutes during the send/receive
process, it usually does not crash. This only happens on start up of Outlook
and not during the send/receive which runs automatically when Outlook has
already been open and running.

I did some searching on Google and Microsoft Support but found nothing
similar. ANy help would be appreciated.

when a server side account is default it can appear to hang outlook at start
up. Patience and not closing Out look can help, Otherwise, set a local
folder as default or start outlook offline. (Try the /nopoll switch)

Diane- What do you mean by "Try the /nopoll switch"?

start outlook using /nopoll - at start menu, run, type
outlook.exe /nopoll

this will start outlook without the initial mail poll - it will continue on
schedule after this (what ever your setting is - default is 5 min) apart. if
it works, configure outlook's shortcut to start with that switch.
