Hi,
The MSN Messenger icon in the notification area changes when people sign in or otherwise when
a toast (those alert windows that popup and then go away) appears, when you're set to a
specific status and so on.
If you were playing a game or something else that changed the screen resolution however, it's
possible that the icon got corrupted (not permanently, just temporarily). Assuming this is
just a visual oddity (and not something that's supposed to be there), you can simply close
Messenger by right-clicking on the icon, choosing Exit and then restarting it from the start
menu.
