Dear all

My home PC has 5 users (NT) - I do not want to see the MSN Messnger screen load at boot up - my kids do which is fine. Can I do something to make sure I don't get it at start up whilst the kids can if they want?

If I can't, I'll have to live with it I guess.....

Yeah in the main MSN program, go to tools> options > general the there a little tick box that says load with windows. Uncheck it.

Dear Chris

Thanx 4 that, please could you say where I start in relation to MSN Programme - toools etc....... Do I take it that the changes I make won't interfere with whatever the kids are doing? Could you keep it very simple and clear (pretty please....)

the kids can still use the program as they normally do however they must first open it from the start menu instead of finding it in the system try.

Ok, when you turn on your computer, you say that the main program loads with winows. Open the main MSN window and at the top you will see the little buttons File, Contacts, Actions, Tools... that one. You want to press the "Tools" one and then choose the "Options" subcatagory. Then in the general section of the new window that comes up there is a whole bunch of options. Read through them and you will find the one you are looking for - the "Load MSN Messenger with windows" option. I believe all you have to do is untick the box.

Now that is how it is for the version of MSN messenger i am using (6.2) but i would assume the menus for all of them are all pretty much the same.

have a ganders and i'm sure you will come across the options bit.

Good luck,
Chris

Dear Chris

Thanks for that, I will have a fiddle about l8r. It has been doing my head in that every time I (and everyone else) logs on, I am greeted by MSN. No offense to MSN, it's just that I have no need for it. My email works quite well for me!!

Hope you get voted as a moderator.

lol i can see why it would annoy you if you dont use it - its just there, in your face!

i love it though.

Thanks, I hope you can be the first lady moderator, if there is ever one...

Dear Chris

Not for me m8 - can do 'people' stuff but not technical staff! Mind you, at my work they look to me for technical advice - b4 I went to work there people didn't know they had a shared drive or how to use it, and Outlook -- forget it!! My work is paper, pen and card based systems which doesn't really do it for me!!

Hope you get voted as the new moderator - when I last looked, you had 7 votes - like Ian says when you get 10, he will use his powers!

I already mentioned about having a Lady Moderator on this forum, Gabriella are you game for it? Chris would do the honour of posting the POLL, won't you Chris?

Thanks guys

I am very flattered but I decline your extremely kind offer. I daren't think waht sort of mess we might all get into. I am happy sat here logging on, reading posts and occasionally making a contribution to proceedings. I'd rather leave the technical stuff to technical people who know what they are doing, not some numpty like me who just tinkers around!!

Many thanks again. Love to all.

Don't push it Chris ... the Lady is quite happy the way things are, that's good enough for me. ;)

Thanks guys

I am happy the way things are, but very flattered nevertheless!

How's your poll coming along Chris? I can't find it 2nite?
