Msn messenger

I have recently installed the latest version of MSN messenger 6.1 and
uninstalled the old Windows version (not neccessarily in that order). When
Windows starts up, I get 2 icons in the notification area. Why would this
be? Sometimes one of them is no more than a black square.

How did you uninstall windows messenger. It is not a straight forward
uninstall. You have to junp thru hoops to get rid of it. Check this out:
Close down Messenger (right click the messenger icon in the notification
area/system tray and click close). Then click the start button, then
click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK. Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed
instructions and screenshots, go to:

Also make sure to uncheck it in outlook express and msconfig.

I'm considering installing MSN Messenger, but I'm reluctant because I've
heard that sme of the Microsoft freeware causes nuisance problems. Are you
experiencing any other problems with your system since installing MSN
Messenger?
