MSN Messenger service temporarily unavailable?

Everytime I try to sign in with MSN Messenger, it says that it failed because
the service is temporarily unavailable and to please try again later. Then it
shows this: 800701f6. This has been going on now for about two months. I
can't stand it any longer. Any advice?

You might try a MS Messenger related newsgroup instead, like
microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger.

My fix for problems with Messenger is to just not use Messenger: Jabber has
about as many users as MSN at this point and is growing rapidly thanks to
adoption by LiveJournal, Google, and other more customer-friendly companies
and nonprofit organizations wishing to offer a standard IM platform to the
public. http://www.jabber.org/ and http://www.imfederation.com/ have more
information about that.

Do you know an easy way to get all of my contacts from MSN to Jabber?

The only good method that I know of is the way I did it. I picked a day I
was no longer going to use MSN, let everybody know that I would be moving
to Jabber and pointed out places they could sign up (like Google Talk). As
they made the switch themselves, they would add me to their list and
vice-versa.

Because MSN doesn't use an open protocol, there isn't really an easier way
to do this unfortunately.
