At least once a week my home page setting in Internet Properties gets changed
from www.google.com to www.msn.com and I have to go into Internet Properties
and change MSN back to Google.

How does this happen, and how can I prevent the change?

Hi Elizabeth,

There are a number of ways this can happen, but only with the users
intervention (you must be pressing a button somewhere that resets the
default values).

I run both toolbars and have never had the problem.

One obvious way to do this is to select the "Reset Web Settings..." button
on the Programs tab of Internet Options.

Another way is for what is called a Group Policy, but this only applies to
networked work computers.

Check your HomePage settings each day when you start up your puter. This
will help you narrow down the cause of the problem.

On last thing. I have to ask why you have Google.com as your home page when
you have the toolbar? Since you have the toolbar to search you realy have no
need to start from their Home page.

.. . . because I hate MSN search !!

One problem I have with searching from the Google toolbar is that, when
I do a search from the google.com, I can have personal settings that
will force a new window when clicking on links in the search result ...
that doesn't work when I search from the toolbar. (I have this awkward
habit of closing a window instead of using the <back> icon).

That said, I don't use google.com (or msn) as a home page. In fact I
don't use any external site - if the site is very slow for some reason,
it'll pretty much freeze until it finally completes. Instead, I use a
local page (generated using winword) with various appointment and other
reminders on it. Loads instantly and helps my memory :-)
