There are several ways to disable Explorer. I think the best and most complete is to
1. Start
2. Control Panel
3. Add/Remove Programs
4. Add/Remove Windows Programs
5. Uncheck the MSN Explorer box and press enter
The computer will then cycle through the moves necessarry to delete MSN Explorer. There is also another approach. Go to "Program Files". If you cannot see them, click on "show all files". Then make sure that the MSN butterfly is not in the taskbar. If so, right click and choose exit. Then back in Program Files, right click on MSN Explorer and click delete. This will also delete this program.
