I have found this program running in the background of my windows 2000 pro
that Norton 2003 has not been able to locate as a virus. (msn.exe) .This
thing will multiply and sometimes be running twenty or thirty times in the
background slowing the computer down severely.

I can not find it any where in the registry and have followed a number of
removal instructions but have been unable to get rid of it. I have also been
getting notices that email I sent to people I have never heard of was
undeliverable due to some virus.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thank you

You might also try running SpyBot Search and Destroy on your computer to locate
and remove parasites. In addition if use it's advanced mode/tools it has a
process viewer and can also show your startup programs where you may be able do
disable the startup of any unwanted program. The ultimate solution may however
be to format your hard drive and reinstall after backing up your data including
your user profile under documents and settings, recording any configuration info
such as tcp/ip and email settings, and taking preventive measures to prevent a
reoccurrence including a firewall, antivirus protetion and maintaining critical
updates. --- Steve
