How do I get Outlook to pick up my msn mail?

If your MSN account is an HTML-based account, add the account as an HTML
account, not as POP or IMAP. Then follow the prompts and you'll be good
to go.

Note that the MSN mailbox, like Hotmail accounts, will appear as a
separate folder structure within your folder list.
