I have made several attempts to install the latest MSN critical
update for the security issues in Internet Explorer. Continue to get
"Failed to install". Is anyone else experiencing the similar problem
or is it just me? Thanks, Larry, Tucson
Larry,
I think you made an un-intentional typo: It's not an MSN update. It's a MS Cummulative update for Internet Explorer browser.
The *fix* number is labeled KB832894. Yes, you should indeed be sure to get it.
The "fail to install" can be any one of many possible root-causes.
1. Look at your log file. Get the real *Error* line from there.
2. Use that to do your own on-line search (both at MS & also on Google group search).
3. Use Windows Update newsgroup to get "more on-target" help.
You need to find & "isolate" the section of the log for that "fail date".
Use Windows' Notepad to open this log:
* C:\Windows\Windows Update.log * (for Win XP & Win98/Me)
Having found the "error" , then do a "search" on this MS page. See MS Windows Update Troubleshooter
