Hi, Im having problems connecting on an NT computer. It worked fine but
I recently ran some updates on Windows Update but now it wont connect.
https has also stopped working also, I tested using hotmail and amazon
which both wouldnt work. My normal e-mail still works though. Can
anyone suggest a fix?

Thanks

Jonathan

Greetings Jonathan,
Try this -- click Start, then Run, and enter the following:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
then click OK

Then do the same thing with each of these:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

After this, reboot and try again.

Note: if you get an error on one of these, just move on to the next one.

Hi, I have a similar problem on a winxp home version computer. Would those
regsvr32s work on an xp home computer too? or just NT?

Thanks, alien

Check the cookies that you have enabled as well as the security settings and
firewalls that u might have installed on your computer. Also the security
settings of your Browser!

Thanks for the info- unfortunately, I haven't found anything yet to
restore the function of https to IE6 (Haven't tried other browser, but
just about to !)

Found your suggestion integrated into this KB: http://tinyurl.com/7f1c

I've tried your suggestion- it would be nice to (generically) know what
those commands actually do, or what BROKE to cause this problem.

I also tried everything in the KB link- still no success...

I had this happen another time and it was a major hassle then too.

Could this be caused by sfc overwriting an SP fix?
Could it be caused by an errant group policy entry?

Thanks for any help...
