Eric

Hi,

I recently installed MSN 6 on my system and when I went
to OPTIONS then MESSAGES tab, under FILE TRANSFER, you
can specify your antivirus program to scan all incoming
files.

I have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed on my system and I
don't know which file from the Norton folder to be
specified in MSN 6.

Please help me.

Thank you,

Eric

Hi Eric,

You can protect your messenger with Norton AV 2003 to do the following:

- Open your Norton AV program
- Click on Options
- Click on Instant Messenger (under heading "Internet")
- Select "MSN Instant Messenger (recommended)"
- Click "ok"

Bye!
Michèle

Hi Isaac,

I'm curious to what you mean by "problems connecting to other people"?
In what way?

greetings!
Michèle

Take care: MC's solution will protect your messenger but according to
messages in this NG you may have problems connecting to other people. It is
still worth a try , if you have problems you can always change it.

If I'm not wrong the Norton AV file to use is: CCIMSCAN.EXE

Hi Michele
Sorry I don't have the original complaints in my computer anymore but I
found part of a reply :

" As well, do you have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed?
Norton added a new
"instant messaging scanning" feature to Norton Antivirus 2003, which can
conflict with
Messenger and cause this behavior. To stop it, open Norton Antivirus
(Right-click on the
Norton Antivirus icon in the System Tray/Notification Area (by the clock),
choose 'Open
Norton Antivirus'), click Options, then Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN
Instant Messenger
and click OK.

Ah, I see Isaac. Thanks for your explanation.
I thought that was the problem to uninstall window messenger. Than indeed
that option can cause problems.

But I must say, I have Norton AV 2003 to protect my messenger, and haven't
face any problems yet.

greetings,

Michèle
