MSN 6.1 crashes on XP pro.

Version: MSN 6.1 (6.1.0203) + Messenger Plus! (2.52.72)
OS : Windows XP Pro.
Firewall: Norton Internet Security 2003 (Software)
HP Digital Home networking Ethernet gateway. [hn200e]
(Hardware/router firewall)

Issue number 1:

It hangs.
I go to work for 3 continuous days.
First day, I go for 12 hours, I come back, it's signed out.
Second day, I go for 12 hours, I come back, it's again signed out.
Third day, I go for 12 hours, I come back, it's signed out; I try signing it
back in, and it stops animation on the tray icon, and when I mouseover it,
it disappears (crashes).
This also happens randomly, usually when I go out and come back, it's signed
out.

I solve this problem by rebooting.



Issue number 2 (not related to messenger):

Same scenario, I come back, and instead of that flashy user screen where I
click on my username and enter password to get in, I get the NT style logon
popup.
Never got to solve it or reproduce it. Just happens when I finally come
back, and when that happens, the internet functions also stop. Nothing
really works, except IRC. I finally have to reboot the puter.


Doubts regarding Issue #1:

Is it the router? Because earlier, before the router I never had these
problems. I installed the router for my roomies sake coupla months ago.


Please help.
I'm sorry for asking an unrelated question (Issue #2), just thought might as
well put it, because most are pretty knowledgeable anyways.
