MSMSGS.EXE always running!!!

For some reason I got MSMSGS.EXE (I assume it's ms
messenger) running in my processes tab in the Task Manager.

I unchecked it from the MSCONFIG menu, still running!!!
It's usually starts running when I connect to the internet.

Is there anyway to disable it without totaly disabling
MSMSNGR for good?
 
No problem. First, open Windows Messenger and look in Edit > Preferences
(IIRC.) Uncheck the option to start Messenger with Windows. The System
Configuration Utility (msconfig) was intended for troubleshooting, not as a
permanent solution.

Now, open Outlook Express go to Tools > Options and uncheck 'Automatically
log on to Windows Messenger'. (Sneaky, huh?)

Start the Messenger and in Tools > Options disable "Run this program
when Windows starts" and "Allow this program to run in the
background". Close the Messenger.
Run REGEDIT.EXE and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Outlook Express. Insert a new
DWORD entry
Hide Messenger
here and set it to a value of
