On start-up I get an error "cannot find c:\windows\system32\msmon.exe". I did a search and found file in c:\windows\prefetch. ?? What do I do to fix this problem...Is this an important file? What does it do? I'm a real novice so any help would be nice!

Hi Mick,

Msmon.exe is not a Microsoft file. A search on google.com comes up with a
few obscure references, but nothing concrete. I would be very leary of this
file, it may be a trojan.

Start/run msinfo32, expand the software environment and click on the startup
programs. See if it is listed here, and make note of where it is loading
from. I think you may want to remove this reference.

Hi Mick,

Start/run wini.ini, if there is a line referencing it, place a semicolon in
front of it.
