In RC2, if you open the Programs and Features applet from the Control
Panel, and select an item, the information previously displayed at the
bottom of the screen is absent. This kind of bug convinces me that

(a) RC2 is not really a Release Candidate

(b) Vista is not ready

Here it does give the information. Depending on the program selected,
it gives the publisher, build number, name, size etc.
Running RC2 5744, upgraded from 5728.

Mamamegs:

That's interesting. Mine was a clean install of Vista Ultimate. The info
is missing on both x86 and x64 versions of RC2. This problem did not
exist in previous versions.

Anybody else see this?

Hi David,
Due to a few problems, I'm doing a clean tonight.
So I'll let you know if it has dissappeared.

And yeh, it's gone! But... you can make it come back by choosing
organize, layout, details pane.

Mamamegs:

Ah yes, so you can. Perhaps it is deliberate then, but I don't think it
should be this way.

OK, how about this one? Restore the details pane of the Programs and
Features (P&F) applet as you described, and select some item. Now open
some other window and move it so that it partially covers the P&F
window, with the detail pane at the bottom visible. Now click on any of
the program-specific (bold) text on the details pane. The P&F applet
does not come to the front! Clicking other parts of the P&F applet
brings it to the front like any other window.

There are so many little things like this.

Not ready, IMHO.
