MSIE - How do I stop "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" errors?

It seems I'm getting a lot of "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" errors. I'm
not sure how long this has been going on but I wonder if its due to a
security update I may have installed from MS. Are there settings I can
change to alleviate this problem? These messages are distracting. For
example, when I go to www.cboe.com/delayedQuote/QuoteTable.aspx I get
several of these on the right hand side of the page and at the bottom as
well. This is just one example. There are other sites too such as
www.Monster.com. Is this related to a security setting which I have control
over? Thanks.

Thanks for checking. No I have not installed any filtering software at all.
If you're not getting any of these errors then can you suggest what security
(or other) settings I should look at?

Not related to security settings. The parts of the page you are missing
contain advertisements. The message you see means that whichever web server
is serving up those advertisements is unable to deliver the content to you.
This is usually caused by advertisement filtering software installed by the
user. Check again: Many security suites include ad filtering features.

A less likely cause is a problem in one or more of the internet hardware
devices (e.g., routers, hubs, switches) standing between the web server and
your computer. If that is the cause, the problem will vanish in a few days,
after the owner of the problem device fixes the problem.

The bulk of the missing parts are doubleclick.net ads. If your using a
custom HOSTS file or something like SpywareBlaster or Spybot, it's what's
blocking the displays.

It was my HOSTS file. It was full of sites which I assume were being
blocked. Not that I miss the ads mind you but the error messages were not
desireable. I renamed the HOSTS file and the pages are now back to their
commercialized glory :)
I wonder what populated my HOSTS file to include the massive amount of sites
which it contained?

Thanks for the help.

I've used SpyBot but I don't remember an option to append the HOST file. I
guess that could have been it. I looked at the download you suggested.
Seems to be a useful tool. Thanks.
