Recently in MS Internet Explorer 6 under XP Prof XP2, I've been getting the
error msg "Error 352 Invalid Class String". It occurs when clicking
Favorites -> Organize. Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

See if this helps:

No this didn't fix it. I still get the same error 352 "Invalid class key"
when trying to organize favorites. This only occurs in user accounts I'm
setting up on my XP Prof machine. I recently installed a couple of MSIE
shell browsers (Avant Browser, DeepNet, and Maxthon) to try them out. They
run perfectly in my Admin account but I get the error when runnning them or
MSIE in the guest accounts now. Any ideas?

Then this is most likely a Permissions issue. You can use the SubInAcl tool
from Microsoft, and reset the permissions for the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT hive.

Alternately, load Regmon (www.sysinternals.com) and launch it from the
subject user account by using RunAs (with Admin credentials). With Regmon
monitoring enabled, try opening the Organize Favorites dialog once. Then
switch to Regmon, and look for "ACCESS DENIED" errors in the Regmon log.

I'd never heard of this tool (subinacl) but I'll take a look at it as well
as Regmon. BTW, I went ahead and reinstalled windows. That solved the
problem but perhaps was more complicated then either of these two potential
fixes.

No problem. BTW, Regmon is a great tool to resolve similar problems. Once
you're familiar with it's filtering /highlighting options, then it's a
wonderful tool.
