I see that this board comes with SATA to IDE adapting connectors. Are there
any performance issues (or any other issues) connecting the IDE drives to
the SATA connections on the motherboard as opposed to the Promise 133 TX2
controller they are now connected to?

Thanks,
Drake

I think you may have misinterpreted something. The board does not come
with SATA to IDE adapters. It comes with SATA data cables to connect
your SATA drives to the SATA connectors.

You're right. I have misinterpreted. The adapters are for the PS. I suppose
I have too much on my desk at the moment and hoped for more IDE connections.

A somewhat related question.

Does a SATA motherboard require a special power supply or will any 400+W PS
work?

Thanks

You do not need a special power supply. There is a different power
connector for SATA, but a lot of the current drives will accept either
power connector. Just don't plug in both types at the same time.
