MSI mainboards?

MSI mainboards used to have a rather mixed reputation, to put it
mildly. Should they still be avoided or are the current MSI boards
considerably better than that reputation? What is your experience?

I recently bought an MSI MB to use as a replacement in my "server"
computer. Since I was looking to do it as cheaply as possible I bought a
slow Celeron and the $39 MSI. Just looking at it, I didn't see anything
that struck me as problematic -- components looked just about as I saw on a
recent Gigabyte MB which went into my HTPC. The board looked perfect and
there was no rework on it (do makers still do manual rework?) The MSI
worked just fine. Their driver CD was complete. The only real letdown as
that the refreshed system used more power (about 5-10W more) than the
ancient dual PIII that preceded it.

I have an MSI 865PE Neo2-P and the only complaint I have, is
that the 6 usb ports, all except one are usb1, only one usb2 port.
No further errors, hickups or crashes.
