I am trying to network. I have a Belkin router conntected
to DSL. INternet access works fine but I am unable to
find other computers on network. two XP machines do not
see each other. (the message windows puts up is Mshome is
not accessible. You may not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact your administrator. etc.)

appreciate any help

Greetings eben,

Ensure all firewalls are disabled or removed while troubleshooting. XP's firewall is only intended for direct connection to the Internet and must be disabled on local area networks.

To disable the XP built-in firewall:

Right-click My Network Places and then click Properties. Open your Local Area Network Properties and click the Advanced tab. Uncheck "Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Interent" checkbox.
