I currently upgraded a Win 98 PC to XP Home. I used the
network wizard to setup a home network and receive the
following error message when trying to view the network.
"MSHOME IS NOT ACCESSIBLE. You may not have permission to
use this network resource. Contact the administrator of
this server to find out if you have access". The Guest
account is active and I enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP and
verified that Computer Browser is running (Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article - 318030). The other PC came with
XP Home and I can see the above PC in the network
connections, but I get the "you do not have permission
message" why I try to access it. Are there other settings
that need to be changed to allow file and print sharing on
a PC upgraded from Win 98 to XP Home?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

XP ICF blocks file/print sharing. Disable the ICF for NIC card.

You will also get that message if your computer is looking for computers on
the "MSHOME" workgroup/domain and you are not set up that way. Check your
PC and find out which workgroup you belong to... then check your other PC's
and see if they are all set to use the same workgroup/domain.

ICF is disabled and the problem was not resolved. Any
other suggestions.
