MSE news from a name you may recognize

Interesting stats. I'm not sure what to make of the high proportion
of Windows 7 users--except that it'll be interesting to see what that
stat does between may and july, say.

What catches my attention in those graphs is the relatively low
proportion of XP users in their sample. My guess - speculation - is
that a large proportion of all XP users out there are lower
knowledge-level users who would not pick up on MSE until some event or
advice pushed them to it, while another overlapping large proportion
already has a good, free anti-malware program of choice installed and
is not about to switch over without a good reason. A first week
sample is biased towards more knowledgeable users, people who were
working with betas and presumably have more powerful computers than
average.
