We have Small Business Server 2000 installed on a Dell
Server. The server was re-started after routine
maintanance but now the we are experiencing symptoms
exactly the same as those listed in MS acticle Q307309.

Random services are in "stopping" and "starting" states,
with the MSDTC service taking up 98% of CPU time the PC is
very slow and the Exchange services are failling to start.

The resolution listed in acticle Q307309 suggests that the
Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service needs to be
set to Manual, but in this case it already is!

Is anyone aware of what else might be causing this?

Cheers...

Dear Sicox,

Thank you for your posting.

According to your post, steps listed in Q307309 article do not work.

If I have misunderstood your concern please don't hesitate to let me know.

According to my experience, solutions listed in Q307309 article always work.

Although the service has been set as "Manual" already, to solid the
implementation status, I suggest that you perform the following steps:

1. Launch Registry Editor, ensure that the "Start" value of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\dmadmin has been set
to 3.

2. If yes, the original Manual status is confirmed. Please disable and then
set "Manual" for the Logical Disk Manager Administrative service. Reboot
computer and then test the situation.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Seaver Ren
