msdn.com search failure

I am a developer and I constantly need to search for
things on msdn.com. When I try to search within the
"Search MSDN for" box or go to the "advance" I always
get "The page cannot be displayed". All microsoft updates
are installed. This is driving me crazy. I figured must
be something to do with IE. So, I downloaded Netscape.
Nestscape has similar problem "The operation timed out
when attempting to contact search.microsoft.com." Both
browsers are set to all defaults. Now I am thinking there
is a problem with some shared component browsers use.
Please Any Ideas?
Thanks

I am thinking there is a problem with some shared component browsers use.

Try Ctrl-F5 and try loosening your Security options (e.g. Default Level).

I was also thinking it was a brower shared component.
But, I have alread knocked security and cookie security
down below default. No help. I was thinking maybe it is
my Macafee antivirus. I am still stuck.
Is there any way of removing and reinstalling IE and
lower level components. Of course, with Windows lower
level components are probably the OS itself.
Ahh!
Help anyone.

Have you tried using the script debugger to figure out what is going on?

BTW are you using a proxy server? I regularly have to bypass my proxy
to allow MS sites to work correctly. A related thing you can do (at least
for accessing the Advanced Search page is set Work Offline and see
what is in your cache for it.

Good luck
