if any one can let bme know how to remove(not disable) completely the program enteries from msconfig.

msconfig does NOT remove programs ... it merely stops them running. msconfig is only useful for diagnostic work.

All GOOD programs should have an "uninstaller" ... some do not "load" that uninstaller but when you use the CD it may/should give you a choice of uninstalling. Games are a good example of that.

Name the programs you wish to remove and we'll see if we can help.

Mucks

thanks for the reply muck.

I meant not removing the programs but only the program entries (exe files entries) from msconfig. Its become the huge list.
Lets Say real player i donnot want to remove the prog frm the computer but there exe file like "tkbellExe", update entry entry from the msconfig

Hope u get my point

I think I know what you mean ... however msconfig is still just a diagnostic tool that allows you to temp turn of programs you suspect may be causing a problem

Realplayer is a 'pig in a poke' and would not be allowed near my system for love nor money. I send an email to the BBC every month asking why I need RP to listen to the radio ... I've yet to get a reply.

Its become the huge list
It shouldn't be, I have 8 legitimate entries.

... but there exe file like "tkbellExe", update entry
Then use "regedit" you will/can safely remove it from there; look in … HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / CurrentVersion / Run

Install and run Ad-aware ... it will help rid you of other nasties. :)

Remember first to do a back-up of the registry or make a system restore point if using XP

try this in regedit

HKEY-LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Shared Tools/msconfig/startupreg

you should be able to delete duplicate or dead entries there

btw, Mucks....I'm almost positive I got this tip from you a long while ago..:):):)
