I know I have a few programs running in the background
that I dont need and want to stop them, but when I search
for msconfig to change what loads and doesnt, it says that
it can not find the file. Is there another way I can edit
my start-up programs?

one way is to copy msconfig.exe found on windows 98 to
windows 2000.

another is to d/l startup.exe for windows 2000. a free
software windows 2000 that acts like msconfig. just do a
search in google.com and search for msconfig +windows 2000.

I like Startup Control Panel (startup.cpl) myself. It breaks down
everything by where it is in the registry. You can enable, disable,
or delete items or add new items like batch files or utils you want to
fire up when Win does.

Hi, Justin.

For some reason, Microsoft left msconfig out of Win2K. They brought it back
in WinXP. As the other posters said, there are workarounds available for
Win2K.
