msconfig startup problem

I've gone to msconfig and the startup file and unchecked the boxes that I
don't want to automatically start up. But they keep re-inserting themselves
and screwing up my system. Why do I have to keep going in and unchecking
them? I've heard there is a way to disable these programs from within the
programs themselves by going into "Tools" but how do I do that? How do I
access the "Tools" dialog box from the program itself? Please be specific. I
really don't know what I am doing. Thanks.

First eliminate any spyware.

MS rechecks all vital services, or what it sees as vital, as it sees it as
necessary for it to work. If you think they are spyware then may i suggest
removing them in the following 3 ways

1. delete their installation folder in program files (you may need to do
this in safe mode)

2. delete them in ad remove programs

3. use a spyware removal program e.g. adaware or spybot

Good luck

Hi,

Within the program itself, it could be tools, but it could also be listed as
options or preferences. You want to disable, usually by unchecking a setting
line, the program's ability to load/run at system boot (startup).
