Since installation msconfig carries the entry gcasServ even
if everything is unchecked in the program. The properties
of the .exe file don't tell me anything, and when the file
is clicked nothing visibly occurs. Also cannot locate
similar entry in Services.

What is this for? If unchecked, what stops?

This is the service which enables the real-time protection agents, I
believe. Leaving it running probably allows for enabling real-time
protection without requiring a restart or some other relatively more
"costly" operation--or maybe it is just a bug. I've removed it from startup
on one machine where I want the program in place, but not displaying any
prompts or information of any kind.
