When I type in msconfig into my "run" command it tells me that the command
cannot be found. I tried to download the auto helper off of microsoft.com
that allows me to do a clean boot through the program and even that will not
work. It gives me an error message saying that the components to run the
program are not installed. Please help.. how can my computer not have an
msconfig???

It sounds like something may have happened to your workstation's
Path variable, so WinXP doesn't know where to find the executable.
Check, and correct, if necessary, the Path Statement. It should look
something like this:

%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program
Files

To edit the Path, right-click My Computer > Properties > Advanced >
Environmental Variables. In the System Variables windows, highlight
"Path" and click the <Edit> button.
